Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • A contribuição é original e inédita, e não está sendo avaliada para publicação por outra revista; caso contrário, deve-se justificar em "Comentários ao editor".
  • O arquivo da submissão está em formato Microsoft Word, OpenOffice ou RTF.
  • Serão aceitos trabalhos originais que se enquadrem nas seguintes categorias:

    2.1 Artigos Científicos: devem conter os seguintes tópicos: Título (Português e Inglês ou Espanhol e Inglês); Resumo e Palavras-chave; Abstract e  Keywords; Introdução; Material e Métodos; Resultados e Discussão; Conclusão; Agradecimentos (quando necessários); Menção de Conflito de Interesses; e Referências.

    Artigos de Revisão: devem conter os seguintes tópicos: Título (Português ou Espanhol e Inglês); Resumo; Palavras-chave; Abstract; Keywords; Introdução; Desenvolvimento (incluir os procedimentos de busca e seleção dos artigos utilizados na revisão); Conclusão; Menção de Conflito de Interesses; e Referências.

    Casos Clínicos: devem conter os seguintes tópicos: Título (Português ou Espanhol e Inglês); Resumo e Palavras-chave; Abstract e Keywords; Introdução; Relato e desenvolvimento do caso; Conclusão; Menção de Conflito de Interesses; e Referências.

  • O texto deve estar em espaço de 1,5 linha; em fonte Times New Roman, tamanho 12; emprega itálico em vez de sublinhado (exceto em endereços URL).

    Referências no estilo VANCOUVER. Devem conter todos os dados necessários à identificação das obras, dispostas em ordem de aparecimento no texto.

  • Ilustrações devem ser encaminhadas em arquivos separados porém sinalizado os locais para inclusão no texto (anexar as imagens no Passo 4), gravados em extensão *.JPEG, em modo CMYK paras as coloridas e modo grayscale (tons de cinza) para as P&B, com resolução de 300dpi. As legendas devem estar inseridas em páginas separadas após as referências bibliográficas.
  • Em caso de submissão a uma seção com avaliação pelos pares, as instruções disponíveis em Assegurando a avaliação pelos pares cega foram seguidas.
  • O texto segue os padrões de estilo e requisitos bibliográficos, conforme descritos em "Diretrizes para Autores" (logo abaixo) e "Perguntas Frequentes" (canto direito superior desta página).

Author Guidelines

• Original works that fall within the following categories will be accepted:
2.1 Scientific Articles: must contain the following topics: Title (Portuguese and English or Spanish and English); Abstract and keywords; Introduction; Material and Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements (where necessary); Mention of Conflict of Interest; and References.
Review Articles must contain the following topics: Title (Portuguese or Spanish and English); Abstract; Keywords; Introduction; Development (include search and selection procedures for articles used in the review); Conclusion; Conflict of Interest Mention; and References.
Clinical Cases: must contain the following topics: Title (Portuguese or Spanish and English); Abstract and keywords; Introduction; Report and development of case; Conclusion; Mention of Conflict of Interest; and References.
• The text must be in 1.5 line space; Times New Roman font, size 12; uses italics instead of underscores (except URL addresses).
References in VANCOUVER style. They must contain all the data necessary for the identification of the works, arranged in order of appearance in the text.
• The illustrations should be forwarded in separate files but flagged the places for inclusion in the text (attach the images in step 4), recorded in extension *.JPEG, in CMYK mode for color and grayscale mode for P&B, with resolution of 300dpi. The subtitles must be inserted in separate pages after the bibliographical references.
• The text follows the style patterns and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for the Authors, on the page About the Journal.
• In case of submission to a section with peer-reviewed section (e.g. articles), the instructions described on Ensuring blind peer evaluation have been followed.
Guidelines for the Authors
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE AUTHORS – JOURNAL OF HEALTH SCIENCES
The Journal of Health Sciences is a quarterly publication. The receipt of an article for processing is based on originality, significance and scientific contribution.
1 Procedures for Submitting Articles: The articles submitted must be original, that is, they have not been published and/or submitted in another journal or collection in the country. The procedure adopted for acceptance is as follows:
• First Stage: technical selection of articles, checking whether it meets the standards (Vancouver) and the scope of the journal; and the criteria relevance and adequacy to editorial guidelines. The author may only submit "new" article from the opinion (approval and/or refusal) of the previously submitted article. Articles that do not comply with the rules of the journal will be automatically refused.
• Second Stage: opinion to be drawn up by at least two “ad hoc” consultants. The authors may suggest "ad hoc consultants" to expedite the process. If the opinions are not conclusive or divergent, the article may be sent to new consultants. The Editor is responsible and has autonomy for the final decision.
1.1 Languages: Articles written in English will be accepted.
1.2 The submission of articles must be only on the journal's website.
2 Types of Collaborations Accepted by the Journal: original works that fall within the following categories will be accepted:
2.1 Scientific Articles: They usually present theoretical or practical research and development studies that have achieved significant conclusive results. The scientific publications must contain the following topics: Title (English and Portuguese); Abstract and keywords; Abstract and Keywords(DeCS); Introduction; Material and Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements (where necessary); Mention of Conflict of Interests; and References(with DOI).
2.2 Clinical Cases: They present the description of clinical cases, followed by evaluation of procedures, methods, results and conclusions, and a bibliography relating significant publications on the subject. They must contain the following topics: Title (English and Portuguese); Abstract and Keywords; Abstract and Keywords; Introduction; Report and case development; Conclusion; Mention of Conflict of Interests; and References(with DOI).
2.3. Review Articles Systematic review articles with or without meta-analysis. Simple review articles will be limited and should be invited by the editor.

3 Form of Presentation of Articles

3.1 Articles must be typed in Word file in .docx format, in 1.5 line space, in Times New Roman font, size 12. The page should be in A4 format, with border formatting (3 cm). It should not exceed 15 pages.
3.2 The works presentation must be in accordance with the following order:
3.2.1 Custom face sheet containing:
• Title in English, title in Portuguese
• Name of each author, followed by institutional membership, title at the time of submission of the work and contact email. The contact author must be identified with asterisk (*). It is recommended that the article has a maximum of 6 (six) authors. If this number is exceeded, the participation of each of the authors in the study should be described.
• Abstract in English (minimum of 200 and maximum of 250 words), written in single paragraph, simple space and justified alignment; and Keywords (minimum 3 and maximum 5) according to Health Science Descriptors (DeCS - http://decs.bvs.br). The abstract should start with the problematization, followed by the objectives, methodology, results and completion with the conclusion.
• The Abstract obey the same specifications for the English version, followed by keywords, compatible with the keywords. (DeCS - http://decs.bvs.br).
3.2.2 Text according to the recommended specifications for each type of collaboration.
•Bibliographic citations must be in accordance with Vancouver standards, listed in ascending order, as they are first cited in the text; and superscript.
• Tables with the respective subtitles. The tables should be formatted in portrait direction and not (never) in landscape. Be numbered in the sequence that are cited in the text. The subtitles and the title must be self-explanatory, and always contain the source of the data.
• The charts must be accompanied by the quantitative parameters used in their preparation.
3.2.3. References in VANCOUVER style. They must contain all the data necessary for the identification of the works, including the DOI, arranged in order of appearance in the text.

3.3 Ethics Committee and Commission (CEP/CEUA)
In all matters related to human research and animal research, the authors must include in the body of the article the number of the approval process by the Research Ethics Committee - CEP and/or by the Ethics Committee on Animal Use - CEUA, in which the research was carried out.
3.4 Conflict of Interest
The authors must identify when there is Conflict of Interest.

4 Copyright
4.1 Articles published in the Journal of Health Sciences
The copyright of published articles belongs to the Journal of Health Sciences. The total reproduction of the articles of this journal in other publications, or for any other purpose, is conditional on the written authorization of the Editor(s).
4.1.1 All the attachments must be submitted with the article in the Portal and attached to the item. “Transfer of Supplementary Documents”.
